  Horrible experience renting paddle boards. I called the day before we were coming to reserve 5 paddle boards, which they told me they couldn't do but to call about 1 hour before we got there to make sure they had enough inflated. I called when we were 1 hour away as instructed letting them know we were coming for 5 paddle boards and verified that the soft rack came with tie downs to be told that we had to purchase tie downs. When we arrived, we paid and went to the back to load up. The lady that was helping us continually contradicted herself, first saying the narrow boards are somewhat unstable and harder to use then when she realized she didn't have enough of the others blown up those were good for kids. Then when we asked about the soft rack she had us go back to front of store to rent, where I pointed out that they were included per the website. The lady that was helping us wasn't sure how to use the rack so had to read directions then the first lady wanted to make sure we had been charged for the rack, which I reminded her I had just told her it was included per website so she backtracked and said yes she wanted to make sure we weren't charged. The soft rack did come with tie downs. She couldn't find the tool for the skag on the hard ones, then when she did find the tool, the screw to one of them was missing so we had to take that off the rack & find another soft one. When we voiced our concern at the store that they only had 1 hard shell they said there should be plenty back there. In the end it took over an hour to load them. They did refund the money for the tie downs I had purchased but they should know what their equipment comes with and how to use it. I verified that the loading up was not part of our time and she said no we could use them until 5pm (which was 4 hours from end of loading up ) or just have them back before they closed at 6 and then went back to around 5pm. All in all, our kids had fun once we were out there but we were disappointed with the customer service as they had plenty of time to prepare for us.

  I have done a few trip with them. Staff is always helpful (I bring large groups). Equipment is in good shape and the guides are fun. I grew up in the NW so the Kern is really more like a big Creek to me, but it is lots of fun and the only thing like a real River in SoCal.
